As Seen on Access Hollywood: MARILYN MONROE BEAUTY: GET THE LOOK:

From the bee-stung red lips to her trademark platinum curls, Marilyn Monroe was – and still is – the ultimate bombshell and beauty icon, who had a penchant for glamour that resonates with so many of us today. Last week on Access Hollywood, we broke down her signature beauty routine and how you can get the look today!

EYESHADOW/LINER:

Meloway Your Way Eyeliner + Remover, $22, melowaymakeup.com

-Marilyn used a base of white cream on her eyelids for every look.

-She’d blend it all the way up to the brow bone, then apply the rest of her makeup.

-This left a bit of white in the corners and underneath the brow to act as highlight, while the rest of the white worked as a primer for eyeshadow.

-This both opens up the eyes and helps the look last longer!

-When it came to her liner, creating a perfect on camera look takes a lot of detail.

-Marilyn was known to use FOUR different colors of eyeliner to get it just right.

-For the upper lid and wing, she used black liner.

-For the lower lash line, she used brown, and in the water line, she used white to make the eyes look even bigger.

-It sounds a little complicated, but this technique is worth a try! The mix of colors gives added dimension and though white might seem harsh, it opens the eye and gives you a real old Hollywood feel.

-Marilyn would also add a dot of red liner to the inner corner of her eyes.

-This highlights the eyes and actually makes them look whiter!

-If you’re looking to replicate Marilyn’s liner at home, inspired by eraser-tipped pencils, Meloway’s first-of-its-kind liquid liner features a precision felt tip eyeliner on one end and a makeup remover pen on the other

-With just the flip of a pen, you are not only able to achieve your desired liner look, but also clean up and perfect any mishaps along the way

-ARCHED BROWS:

Arches & Halos Angled Bristle Tip Waterproof Brow Pen, $12.99, target.com

Arches & Halos Set & Sculpt Brow Styling Wax, $9.99, target.com

-In addition to her lips, Marilyn’s eyebrows were a key part of her look

-She was known to keep her brows brown (several shades darker than her hair color) and very arched.

-It might feel a bit dramatic to give your brows the same pointed look as Marilyn, but experiment with a more angular brow to emulate her look.

-Arches & Halos Waterproof Brow Pen lasts up to 24 hours and is available in 8 rich shades

-Ultra-precise tip helps draw sharp, thin hair like strokes, gives a fuller eyebrow effect and fills in sparse brows

-Uniquely designed angled cut tip for easy application to fill, shape, and shade the brow

-**Can also create Marilyn’s signature mole with it!

-Brow sculpting gel provides long-lasting hold that locks brows in place

-Instantly uplifts and tames hair for the perfect feathered brow look

-Clear formulation, inclusive for all skin tones and brow types

-THE GLOW:

Vaseline, $1.49, Drugstores nationwide

Nivea Creme, $3.59, Walmart.com

-While today we go wild for highlighter, Monroe got her glow on another way

-Deploying the K-beauty trend for “slugging,” she would apply layers of Vaseline under her foundation to help skin catch the light.

-She was also a fan of cold cream & iconic products we still use today, including Nivea Creme

-Seen in: Kim K’s tour of Ripley’s Believe it or Not surrounding her MET Gala look.

CONTOUR:

Jamie Makeup’s The Blighlighter, $34, jamiemakeup.com

-Contour did not start with the Kardashians!

-Marilyn used blush to contour her face shape since the 1950’s.

-In addition to sculpting the cheeks, Marilyn would add a touch of blush to the tip of her nose.

-This added warmth to the face and slightly slimmed the nose.

-While this can be done with both powder and cream blush, it tends to look most natural with a creamier formula that can be easily blended.

-I’m loving Jamie Makeup’s Blighlighter - a blush + highlighter hybrid for your cheeks. You just... Dab, Blend and Glow.

-Layer it up... no brushes needed.

-Created by makeup artist to the stars (Kaley Cuoco, Jenna Dewan, Chelsea Handler), the amazing Jamie Greenberg!

-Comes in 5 options for different skin tones – Cherry, Coral, Nude, Pink & Penny.

-RED LIPS:

Urban Decay Vice Lip Bond Liquid Lip, $25, urbandecay.com

24/7 Glide-On Lip Pencil, $22, urbandecay.com

-Marilyn was known for her full, pouty red lips.

-Her make-up artist would apply up to FIVE different red hues – darker, plummy reds on the outside, and lighter towards the inside – to create the contoured illusion of dimension and plumpness.

-Then, she’d finish with a bit of white highlight in the middle of the lower lip and a coat of gloss.

-All together, this clever use of lipstick made her lips look fuller and made her overall makeup even more glamorous.

-Get Marilyn Monroe's classic red lips with Urban Decay's new long-lasting, Vice Lip Bond Liquid Lip

-It gives intense color and instant shine, lasting for up to 16 hours and is smudge-proof, transfer-proof and food + water resistant.

-How to apply: Shake the formula for 5 seconds, apply (we suggest applying in one direction on the lips) and then let sit for around 3 - 5 minutes. The longer you let it sit, the longer it will last! When ready to break free, use an oil-based makeup remover.
