Early morning meetings and late night conferences leave little time for fitness during the work day.  Don’t fall into the trap of putting of your workouts and spending too much time at the office vending machine.  Below you will find four helpful active tips from Nadia (@NadiaMurdockFit)  that will keep you in check and you can start implementing today!
Step Away: Yes every minute counts when it comes to work but so does your health! Schedule 10-15 minutes to step away from your desk and go for walk.  Try leaving a pair sneakers or comfortable flats at the office to make sure you have no excuses!
Take the Stairs: Depending on your weight you can burn anywhere between 9-12 calories a minute climbing one flight of stairs according to HealthStatus.com.  It is such an easy alternative and a great way for sneaking in fitness especially when there is no time to step away.
Desk Side Workout: You will be surprised how many workout moves you can do utilizing your desk and chair. On a conference call?  Do you a few tricep dips on your chair (make sure the chair is sturdy) or a few desk push ups!  Don’t have a enough room?  Grab a water bottle and do a few bicep curls.
Commuter Tip: Whether you drive to work or take public transportation make your commute work for you.  Try parking a bit further from the entrance or on a different level of the parking garage to get some extra walking squeezed in.  If you take the train or bus get off a few stops early and enjoy the extra calories you are burning as a result!
